Hi all
The trial against St Elias/ Old Boys has been cancelled following the below notice from the IAFA. Sorry for the late notice but this came through on Fri afternoon. We will find out what's going on on Wed.
Subject: URGENT - SPECIAL Extraordinary Meeting for ALL Club Delegates - IAFA - Wednesday 24th February - Fraternity Club
ALL Team Delegates are required to attend a Special Extraordinary Compulsory meeting at the Fraternity Club in the Downstairs Sunken Lounge in the North East Corner of the Fraternity Club on Wednesday 24th February 2010 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
This meeting is compulsory and must be attended by at least 1 delegate from everyone of our member clubs.
The agenda items for the meeting are to remain undisclosed due to the nature of the meeting as some of the items are currently under alleged investigations.
As part of our alleged investigations I would formally advise that under no circumstances should any of our member clubs participate in any Football over this weekend or until the completion of Wednesday’s meeting including training under your clubs directive.
Please do not contact anyone from our committee prior to Wednesday’s meeting and any correspondence that may be required can be directed to myself on the number below.
Regards
Andrew Byron

Trial news update
The trial vs St Elias/ Old Boys will be a 3pm start at Guest Park, Fairy Meadow on Saturday. This is confirmed and only affected now by rain.
I need someone to swing by and pick up some vests, or I can drop them in to someone nearby who is playing. I'm not 100 percent of going to the game and won't know until the day.
Cheers

Stats centre, trial news
Stats centre: The stats centre is partially operational, thanks to some excellent work again by Kev.
You should be able to go to the When I'm Away links for your team, click on your name and then enter your away days. This is a helpful way of letting team management know that you will be missing a game, and allows you to book your dates away so you are less likely to be rostered off for a game when you are home. The draft fixture list is up there as well.
Player of the year awards: Kev reports that fewer than 50 percent from either team were voting regularly last season. It could be boredom or lack of computer knowledge. I have a different idea for the player awards - just a single 3-2-1 vote per person ahead of the awards night. I'll put a poll up there and see what you think, but I guess a response of around 50 percent of our 43 players probably makes the point that the current system isn't really involving everyone.
Trial No. 2: It looks like we will have enough for the trial on Saturday. As Guest Park has no posts at the moment I'm working with St Elias to see if we can't find a ground which has, to hire. Details will be blogged in the shoutbox later in the week.
Trial No.3: The Coledale Under 18s have challenged us to a trial. I'm not sure if we're up to that, but thought perhaps Whites play them first half and Maroons in the second half or vice versa. Would like to know your thoughts before I lock us in. Thinking the Saturday before the season kicks off could work, with a preseason BBQ etc before we kick the shite out of each other.
Roster: Ian Dewey has offered to ref again without fee. He would like us to instead pay for two of the U18s who are qualified officials to run the line, giving them some extra cash and experience and, in Ian's words: "Two people I can trust to help me instead of having a smoke, drinking a beer and chatting to the guys doing the barbie." Probably don't need a poll to gauge your thoughts on this one. There will still be BBQ work to be done and I will start thinking up some more stuff to keep you bludgers occupied.
Rego: So far we have registered 20 of our 43 players. Please get this done by Feb 24 training if you can so we can get our fees in to the IAFA. Let me know if you can't manage it in time.

Trial offer from Old Boys, rego update
Hi all
The Old Boys and St Elias (masters 1 teams) are seeking a trial with one or both teams or a combination, on Feb 20. This might be a chance for those who miss this weekend's game at Unanderra to have a run or for those who are keen to have another go. I'll put a poll up to see if we have numbers and we'll aim to confirm it after next Wednesday's training.
Rego reminder: You can sign up at this weekend's trial or training next week. Rego is to be completed (froms signed, money paid) by the end of the month at the latest as the IAFA is seeking early fees in the region of $6000 from our two teams.
Despite suggestions that splitting from the FFA would mean lower fees, the IAFA levy on clubs this year is exactly the same as it was last year, which is why we are keeping our fee the same as well. Our $200 per person fee also covers home referee fees of $90 per home game and ground rental of $60 per home game plus $300 in training ground cost and $200 in training and match balls.
We will continue doing some fundraising this season, through the BBQ and bar and events. The Coledale junior club also has fundraisers and I'll post info soon about a surfing comp they are running. It always helps if we support the juniors where possible.
Cheers
Tony

Trial confirmed, plus details
The trial match against Unanderra, on Saturday Feb 13 at 4.30pm, has been confirmed today. I have told them we will bring 18 or so players and they will have similar. We have agreed to play 90 minutes in the form of three periods of 30 minutes each. A referee will be supplied and paid for between us.
Our squad will be a mix of whites and maroons. We will play in the Maroon kit or vests. Please wear dark shorts of any colour as they will wear white. Wear non Maroon socks.
The venue is Central Road, Unanderra, opposite the Wests Illawarra club.
The Maroons goalie is away and if the new Whites goalie isn't available we might need to have a few players take turns, so we're open to offers.
All players should understand that they play the trial at their own risk as no insurance is in place at this stage. I will also register players at the ground.
Cheers
