Maroons dressed for success

The Maroon playing shirts, as proudly worn by our XL model (left), rolled up to my door today. Still no news on the white kit so I'm thinking it could be a week or two before we get them. It's essential you return the white shirt from the trial if you have one at home.

Training on Wednesday will involve a warmup, some work in our own groups and then an 11-a-side match - subs will be interchanged as per a game.

Rosters for linesman and BBQ start this week. They will get a permanent home with their own Stats Centre entry soon. This week's on-roster folk will appear in breaking news soon. It is your responsibility to organise a change and alert me if you have something preventing you from doing your duties.

Why the Pink? The rooball goalposts and the backs of our goals have been painted pink. We will also be using pink matchballs this season. This is to honour Coledale soccer mum and marathoner Kerryn McCann, who died of breast cancer last year. A sign will be going up on the fence explaining this so we don't tire of telling the opposition. The club will be fund raising for the Jane McGrath Foundation this season and the seniors committee will discuss how it might contribute when we next meet. If you wish to do your own personal tribute years of experience teaches me that washing your white shorts, socks or shirt with something bright red and new will probably do the trick.

Good on yer to those who have marked their absences on the When I'm Away boards. It appears that the Maroons are at 16 this week with TH10, Deano, Peter L and Tommy missing the game. If you aren't one of these and won't be there let me know please. A Maroons match preview and a Whites headcount will followo later in the week.

Thanks to Shanus for organising the cleanup on Saturday. The dressingrooms came up a treat and the lines are miraculously unwobbly. Shane maintains the lines during the season. If you have time off during the day please volunteer to help him out.
