There are quite a few things to get through today.
Trial: We are looking to play Thirroul Masters 1 team Gibson Park Rangers in a trial on Wednesday night at Gibson Park Thirroul from 6.30pm. The preferred plan is for one of our teams to play the first half while the other does some drills etc and vice versa for the second half. AB and Ant will organise the two sides. Check back here Tuesday for confirmation of the game, otherwise we'll be training at Wombarra.
Team split: It has been mutually agreed that it's now time to separate the teams for training and game preparation purposes. Obviously we have a committee to handle club-wide matters and will continue to do that. AB12 will now take over the organisation of the whites. The idea is that we will train separately from here in, while we still have strong numbers at training, but might come together at the end of training for a game against each other.
Both teams need to help their managers by using this blog. The most important interactive feature is the When I'm Away link in Stats Centre below right. We can only have 16 players per team on a Saturday and have 20 in the squad so sometimes a decision needs to be made on who sits out. By using the WIA section you make it easier to track who is in or out.
On Thursday or Fri each week both teams will post game previews on the blog with the expected lineups. If you are a late withdrawal go there (to comment) to let your team manager know you will be missing out.
Awards night voting: Another feature of the blog is the ability to cast 3-2-1 votes for the best three players in each game you play. These links have now been added in Stats Centre. After your game you go there and follow the steps. These tallies are blind and we have a Brownlow style awards night at the end of the season (see post below this one).
Jobs: Please remember we have a cleanup at the home ground at 9am on Saturday to get our dressingrooms ready for the season. Beyond that your team managers AB (white) and John B (Maroon) will need to work up a roster for linesmen for our home games, starting in week one. People with other jobs such as committee, IAFA delegates (deano, this week 7pm at Corrimal Leagues) are off the lines roster. They will however be on a BBQ roster of all our players being composed by Ant. On occasion we might have to ref the other team as well - if anyone wants to put their hand up I can help them get trained and they can avoid the lines roster as well.

War and Peace? Don't know about that but why does the "Coming soon" link at the bottom of the page lead to the Arsenal Home Page? Shouldn't it be a "Might scrape fourth" link?
ReplyDeleteBTW, sorry won't make the trial or the clean up, so someone else will have to take up the goal scoring duties.
